Graduates struggle to break into the UK's job market

With record numbers of Chinese students studying in the UK, the volume of graduates finding work and getting the visas they need to remain in the country has not risen proportionally, with difficulty finding visa sponsorship a major reason.

According to the UK Higher Education Statistics Agency, the 89,540 Chinese students in Britain far exceeds the total from any other nation. Recruitment experts say  only a small portion, largely those from top-tier universities, are able to find UK jobs after graduation.

A survey conducted by Hays  among 1,000 recent Chinese graduates suggests  many lack business acumen, social skills, internship experience, and the ability  to understand businesses' expectations.

The top sectors in which Chinese graduates find work  are financial services, IT and software, and pharmaceutical and health-care. Companies in these fields can also usually offer visa sponsorship.

Trump refuses to say he will accept election results

Republican candidate Donald Trump refused to say on Wednesday that he would accept the outcome of the Nov. 8 US presidential election, leaving open the possibility he would challenge the ultimate outcome.

In the third and final presidential debate with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, Trump said he would wait to decide whether the outcome was legitimate.

"I will tell you at the time, I will keep you in suspense," Trump said.

In a fiery debate that centered more on policy than the earlier showdowns, Trump accused Clinton's campaign of orchestrating a series of accusations by women who said the businessman made unwanted sexual advances against them.

Trump said all of the stories were "totally false" and suggested Clinton was behind the charges. He called her campaign "sleazy."

China lays out plan for agricultural modernization by 2020

China aims to achieve "marked progress" in agricultural modernization by 2020, according to a five-year plan released by the State Council Thursday.

The country will strive to ensure food security, improve the quality and efficiency of farm produce supply, and enhance the sector's international competitiveness by 2020, the plan said.

It also targets all-round moderate prosperity for rural residents, and a beautiful countryside.

Modern agriculture should be established in the country's eastern coastal developed regions, major cities' suburbs, state farms and several demonstration areas, according to the plan.

The plan specified tasks to promote innovation, coordination, green development, opening up and farmers' welfare.

Fourteen key projects will be carried out to attain the plan's goals. They include projects to cultivate high-standard farmland, integrate various sub-industries and ensure farm produce quality.

Fiscal and financial support will be given to the agricultural sector, while better land policies and farm produce market regulations will be introduced, the plan said.
